Ilala Lodge is a rare gem in Africa on the edge of one of the world’s most extraordinary natural phenomena – The Victoria Falls. The hotel has a true colonial feel to it. You feel a history that is genuine. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to assist and help. The dining room and food is wonderful....always fresh and delicious. The rooms are simple and could be better. But the air-conditioning makes up for it. I loved the location and seeing the mist rise up every day from the Falls. You feel you are in heaven and you are. There is nothing fancy about Ilala and yet it is more special than many of the famous hotels in the area. Highly recommend!

Ilala Lodge was the perfect location for a visit to Vic Falls -- right in town and within walking distance to the Falls! The room was very comfortable and the bathroom particularly spacious. Breakfast is not to be missed -- delicious and plenty of choice. Dining on the patio is a pleasant way to spend an afternoon or evening and the pool area is most relaxing, with hardly anyone around. At the end of a busy day enjoying the sights and experiencing the beautiful nature, Ilala is a wonderful hotel to come "home" to. You may even be lucky to see some elephants wondering through town while you are out and about....

We just got back from a wonderful vacation in Victoria Falls and stayed at Ilala for 3 nights. We absolutely loved it...they had such a friendly staff, a gorgeous hotel with wonderful bar and restaurant and in the best location possible. We were right in town and very close to the main market, plus only a 10 minute walk to the Falls themselves...also, while eating at the restaurant or just hanging out in the outdoor area you have a view of the spray. The only negative thing though is that their double rooms are twin beds put together...apparently only the suites have full Queen sized beds. But other than that we loved our stay and definitely would recommend it!
